Seriously. When this album drops I don't think people will buy anything but that album.

He's going to change the game people.

LOL there was nothing that rhymed whatsoever. Sad to say, it's not much different than many mainstream rappers' content, nowadays.

Must make a disclaimer before I continue on...just to be fair.

I don't care for most modern rap. When I liked rap is was back in the day and when it started to also change and those pioneers that made a difference in the style. Now what little rap I do here is nothing revolutionary other than some of the music not so much the rap.

With that said, so the bias and history is there.

I don't see how this guy will or is considered the best ever, again just my opinion.

I don't know if you can pass up people or groups like Public Enemy, NWA, BDP LLCoolJ just to name a few.

Now some of those might not be the best rappers in some aspects but they were game changing and genre creators to a degree. Some took just straight party style lyrics and changed them to street, social and political issues.

Some like LLCoolJ, whether people like(d) him or not was a heck of a rapper let alone the amount of quality years he put out stuff. Every so many years he would have some young rapper try to challenge him and he would come out and put the guy out of his misery...who knows maybe some of those things were just plans to help with sells.

Used to like rap back in the day. Don't know if I just don't care for the over saturation of the market, if I don't see it as revolutionary as it once, if it has just became too commercialized or what I hear just isn't as good.

I just know I have heard too many "top" songs that basically is nothing more than a catchy hook for a chorus that utters some silly phrase over and over but again I don't listen to enough so I am sure there are some out there that are different and not just rehashed.

    Yes I am serious.

Those artists were game changers. They were genre changers.
LLCoolJ also has something that a great deal of modern rappers do not have...longevity in a field that normally does not and also he was a heck of a rapper, skill wise, in his day.

I imagine if he wanted he could probably put out a CD that would do well in the charts even today.

    Two things.......

Who's BDP? Did you mean Big Daddy Kane?
You forgot to mention the most influential rappers of all time.....Run DMC

I like you're list though, overall. I would add in honorable mentions for Wu Tang and Eminem.

Of course, then there's this guy...

The only good rap is old rap from the 80s. Today they completely alter words from their normal form to make them rhyme. That IMO shows a complete lack of skill in the profession.

Not true. Tu Pac, Snoop, Eminem, Beastie Boys, Jay Z, DMX to name a few from the 90's early 2000's that did it great. There are more.
